It is in that spirit that in 2004 we developed and implemented a customer service survey to help gauge our success in providing the best customer service possible.  We automatically mail a survey to every 25th documented contact.  Because of the random nature of participant selection, those surveyed include everyone from complainants and victims of crimes to arrestees.  It is our belief that while our duties vary almost immeasurably with respect to different types of contacts, the professionalism with which we perform those duties should be unwavering. 

    The survey asks the nature of the respondent's contact with the Vermillion Police Department and then requests that they rate, according to a scale of 1-5 (where 1 is poor and 5 is excellent), dispatcher performance, response time, officer professionalism, follow-up performance, and the overall degree to which their expectations were met.
