Jason participated in the Civil Air Patrol for five years, and served with the United States Army for five and a half years as a combat engineer.  Jason served eleven months with the Tea, South Dakota Police Department, as well as two and a half years as a Sioux Falls Police Reserve.  Jason joined the Vermillion Police Department in May of 2003 and is a graduate of the instructor development course.   Jason’s hobbies include target shooting, hunting, fishing, climbing and rappelling.
